There are many reasons to undertake a career assessment, even for those who have been in the same industry or role for years.

With so many of us spending more than one third of our lifetime at work it is so important to ensure we are not only in a role that we like but a role that makes the most of our unique strengths and skills.

Mind Matters currently offers two unique Career Assessments including the Career Exploration Assessment and the Career Development Assessment. You can learn more about each individual assessment below:


1. Career Exploration Assessment

Our Career Exploration services aim to help you discover your general work style and career interests. Based on an assessment of your profile and your goals, you will receive personalised and actionable recommendations to support you in gaining clarity regarding different career avenues.

Who is this assessment for?

– HSC Students
– Year 9-11 Students 
– Young Adults who have taken a gap year and now looking to either study or start working
– Adolescents who are unsure of what path they want to take after high school
– Individuals who want to learn more about their passions, strengths and weaknesses in a professional setting

What will I get out of completing this assessment?

– An evaluation of your work personality in five areas (work style, learning environment, team orientation, leadership style, and risk taking), as well as your interests in six areas (realistic, artistic, investigative, social, enterprising, and conventional)
– Discover your passions and interests in a career context
– An assessment of career suitability that align these interests with your strengths 
– Career guidance from an experienced psychologist
– Recommendations for suitable career paths from a comprehensive list of industry options 

What is included in this assessment package?

1. Initial Interview (50 min.)
You will first meet with your psychologist to discuss what lead you to seek career guidance, your specific needs and the goal you would like to achieve through this process (e.g. choice of a profession, choice of a study program, change of job or career).
2. Completion of an online psychometric assessment (35-40 min)
In the comfort of your home, you will complete a psychometric assessment that assesses:
Personal preferences related to work style, learning, leadership, risk taking, teamwork and interests in six areas (realistic, artistic, investigative, social, enterprising, and conventional). 
3. Analysis of results and identification of recommendations (2 hours)
Your psychologist deep dives into your results and interprets them in order to identify your personal dynamics. Based on their extensive knowledge and expertise, your psychologist thinks of suggestions of careers that could suit your interests and personal preferences. 
4. Career consultation and feedback on results (80 min)
During this session, you will receive feedback on your test results and explore different career avenues in which you are more likely to enjoy. At the end of the session, you will set up an action plan aimed at exploring to a greater extent career avenues that interest you the most.

The cost of our Career Exploration services cost $1,500 and include:

– Psychometric Assessment fee
– Session fees
– Interpretation and Analysis of Results
– Comprehensive Written Report 


2. Career Development Assessment

Our Career development services aim to help you find a career that best matches your unique personality, interests, skills and situation. Based on a comprehensive assessment of your profile, you will receive personalised and actionable recommendations to support you in pursuing a role in which your chances of success and happiness are greatest.

Who is this assessment for?

– A comprehensive evaluation of your strengths and weaknesses in a professional setting
– Individuals are considering changing careers
– Individuals who are unsure if their current career is right for them
– Individuals who need assistance with career progression identifying developmental needs to obtain or perform in a specific role (e.g. promotion, lateral move)
– Identifying strengths and developmental needs to better adjust to a new role (e.g. transition from individual contributor to first-time manager, moving from a to a mid-level role to an executive-level role).

What will I get out of completing this assessment?

– Evaluate whether your existing career is harnessing your full potential
– Identify your unique strengths and weaknesses
– Learn tools to help develop areas that need improvement in your current role
– Walk away with an action plan to implement following your sessions and a comparison of your profile with an empirically-identified prototype profile of a high performer in roles of interest

What is included in this assessment package?

1. Initial Interview (50 min)
You will first meet with your psychologist to discuss what led you to seek career development guidance, as well as your specific needs and the goal you would like to achieve through this process (e.g. choice of a profession, progression into a new role, change of role or career).
2. Completion of an online psychometric assessment (60-90 min)
In the comfort of your home, you will complete a psychometric assessment that assesses:
Problem-solving styles
Interpersonal styles
Work habits
Career interests
Motivational factors
Limiting and enabling beliefs
Coping strategies
Your probability of success in 500+ roles
3. Analysis of results and identification of recommendations (2 hours)
Your psychologist deep dives into your results and interprets them in order to identify your unique personal dynamics. Based on their extensive knowledge and expertise, your psychologist will think of suggestions on how to increase your impact in the workplace by leveraging strengths and managing areas of development. Finally, they hand-pick a selection of roles to compare your profile with and assess your probability of success in them.
4. Career consultation and feedback on results (80 min)
During this session, you will receive feedback on your test results and different roles in which you are more likely to thrive. Your psychologist will also explain how those avenues correspond to your strengths, needs and interests. At the end of the session, you will set up an action plan aimed at exploring to a greater extent career avenues that interest you the most.

The cost of our Career Development services cost $2,250 and include:

– Psychometric Assessment fee
– Session fees
– Interpretation and Analysis of Results
– Comprehensive Written Report
